Wednesday 9 November 2011

We Have started again!!!!

This media statement is to give you an idea of what my team and myself have been involved with over the past few years, in Sept 2009 I broke the GWR longest warm water dive of 24 hours 10 min and re set the mark at 25 hours 10min, in the feb 2011 I attempted to break the cold water sea record of 11hours 46min, unfortunately 10 hours into the record we had to stop due to the safety of all the divers in a force 5 storm, in another attempt to better my gwr dive that had been surpassed in late 2010 , new record time of 48 hours in warm open sea dive, my dive was stopped 36hours 28min into the dive due to technical problem, Now we are looking again to try the cold water record of open sea dive, with the help of Starfish Diving st Georges Bay, were the min temp has to below 15.c ,at a min depth of 11 meters for 12 hours to pass the old record but my goal is to pass that and make the new record of 15 hours, we have currently got a dedicated team working together collaborating info between each other, as the team as been split into segments  we have IT section that is dealing with the daily updates of blogs and web this will all be done from 1 web hub photos videos write ups will be uploaded, www.worldrecorddiving.com
Furthermore we have surface support team which is made up of 4 people, that will be in charge of logging in and out divers, along with making sure the correct drinks are brought down to me on time, this we have regular meeting twice month to see the progress of the dive roster dry divers and safety divers!! Dry divers will only get in the water in the event of emergency, then myself and team member record all meeting and have it all transcribed and sent to each member of the team from diver to the coffee girl/boy, a copy of this is available to all members and sponsors on request.
There is a list of forms to be filled and signed by all divers’ liability of the dive, support diver contract, the type of equipment we have will be range of halcyon equipment from Silent planet uk- wing and halcyon cold water regulators, apeks /aqua lung from M&A Diving supplies Malta- Legend regulators/full face masks/surface markers and light sticks, Custom diver uk- battery pack heated underwater vest, O’three uk- msf500 Dry suit , Go pro USA- 3 HD under water cameras, St jhons ambulance will also be on standby at the dive. We are in the process of talking with shark lab who is direct contact with padi and project aware.
The dive I will be looking at doing dive time of 15 hours starting at 00.00 and surfacing around 18.30hrs, the date of the dive is still to be confirmed but looking at the last week feb 1st week march, during my time under water the teams will be coming down in teams of 2 carrying replenished cylinders and drinks(vitamins),each team once dived cannot re-enter the water for min of 2 hours giving the divers ample time to off load nitrogen levels, we know we had problems in the last dive so we closing as many problems down..during my time around the reef we will be cleaning the sea bed from shore out to the westin dragonara casino across to radison we hope to clean the whole bay and hope we can promote this record to get as many people to come and help,
As Malta is sure a valuable site for diving and tourisum we would like to get as much finical backing and media backing to help make this event excel far better than any other we have over taken as this is the foundation to other better records to come!!!
